image2Chez Gendarme Chambre D’Hotes is situated in the picturesque hamlet of Messeux, close to the historical villages of Nanteuil en Vallee and Verteuil. A peaceful and idyllic location to relax, walk, hike, cycle, kayak,  canoe, explore the local area and maybe, also to look for your own special place in France.

Our house was featured on a Place In the Sun in 2012 in its original state although we did not appear on the programme.  We purchased Chez Gendarme in January 2013.

image3Our Bed and Breakfast is in the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region (formerly Poitou Charente) of South West France. Conveniently situated between Poitiers and Angouleme and only 15 minutes from RN10. Poitiers and Limoges airports are within one hour. There are also good rail links to Paris and Bordeaux.

We are 15 minutes from the nearest railway station in the town of Ruffec where you can take the train to Poitiers and Angouleme.

The popular tourist destinations of Angouleme, Cognac and Poitiers are all under an hour away.

We are an ideal stopover en route to South of France or Spain or if you are returning to Northern France.  We are also located on the Euro Velo 3 Cycle Route and have welcomed many cyclists who are cycling to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
